Kimmeridge Bay is famous for its geology, diving and windsurfing.  At the Bay there is a Marine Centre open to the public which is run by the Dorset Wildlife Trust. There are sandy beaches at Studland and Durdle Door. Running along the coast from Swanage to Weymouth is the well-walked Coastal Path. The Etches Collection, a £4 million fossil museum has been opened in the village of Kimmeridge opposite the thriving village Restaurant.

Other nearby famous attractions include the Wareham Museum, Corfe Castle and the Steam Railway to Swanage. A little further away are the huge Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World and Kingston Lacey House. For meals out, if Clavells Restaurant is booked, try the New Inn at Church Knowle, the Tea Room at Worth Matravers, the Salt Pig in Wareham or Shell Bay restaurant at Studland.
